Church Painting

paint 300x199 Church PaintingI was asked by the church council to organize an effort to paint the church. Due to a busy early summer schedule, I would like to make this a late summer activity starting in Mid-August.

We need Volunteers to get this done; last time we painted the church it went quickly and at least 8 people were involved in some way. I will handle spraying the main body paint but will need helpers on the following tasks:

  • Prep work: 3-4 persons on two week nights from say 6-8:30PM using hand and rental power scrapers to prepare the bad areas for new paint. Pressure washing will be the final part of this step. Some beer may be involved in this to increase participation!
  • Tapers: 2-3 persons to work the evening before and the morning of spraying the main body by covering windows and fixtures with plastic and tape. I will follow with the sprayer.
  • Trim Painters: As many people as possibly to each take a side of the church to paint the trim (window and door frames, gutters). This can be done on your own time and as best fits your personal schedule.

Our Redeemer and FISH Food Bank

FishBanner 300x81 Our Redeemer and FISH Food BankFor some time now we’ve been exploring the possibility of building a new facility for FISH on ORLC’s property. The process has taken quite some time but we’ve now arrived at a place where FISH is ready to move forward.

On June 30th, seven members of ORLC met with the FISH building committee members (14 of them!) to begin again to explore the possibility of building a new home for FISH on our campus. There was much discussion of possible impediments to moving forward, Continue reading

August’s Word From Our Pastor

praise1 Augusts Word From Our PastorGrace and peace to you in the name of our living and loving Savior, Jesus the Christ!

So we’ve now been at this joint ministry partnership a whole month … what have you noticed? I’ve noticed great excitement in both places of worship waiting and expecting things to happen. This is great!

It is wonderful to be looking forward to the future for God’s great promises to be revealed rather than just remembering how they’ve been fulfilled in the past, however it is only a start. We need to not just expect or wait for great things to happen, we need to find ways to help them to actually occur.

On August 13th there is an ice cream social Continue reading

VBS – Day Three

Good day to you once again from Pandamania where kids are learning that “God is wild about you!”  Each day at Pandamania there is a skit to open our worship time together.  These are some of the highlights of the morning worship as they are both funny and get the point of the day across.  Enjoy this one I taped for you!

VBS 2011 – Day Two

Greetings! Check out the video below of some of the games that kids are doing this week at VBS. (The song they are signing is God is listening when I call … to the tune of London Bridge is falling down.  You’ll need to turn your sound up to hear it.)

These are the youngest kids we have at VBS this week and they sure are a joy to watch! Of course I’m biased because two of them are mine … Enjoy!

July’s Word From Our Pastor

Grace and peace to you in the name of our living and loving Savior, Jesus the Christ!

One of the great narratives that the Bible has to offer us is how a specific people were chosen by God at a specific place in time to receive all that God has to offer. This narrative is picked up in many different places, but one of the most eloquent and powerful places is in the book of Genesis. Therefore, it was with great excitement that I saw starting on July 3rd the lessons recommended for us by the lectionary will take us through this journey over the course of the summer. I think that this will provide a wonderful background for us to consider

what it means to live in this new partnership and to live as God’s missional people in the world.

I’m calling this preaching series “The Promises of God” and each week will highlight a different aspect of God’s promise to deeply abide with and care for all of God’s creation. Together we will hear about the stories of Isaac and Rebekkah, Jacob and Esau, Jacob fleeing Esau, Jacob marrying Leah and Rachel and of course Jacob’s wrestling match with God.

I hope as we journey through the month of July with these stories, with these promises God’s promise to endlessly love and cherish the whole world will become ever more real in your life.

I look forward to seeing you in worship!

In Peace, Pastor Andy
